An honest reflection on why I am writing that may inspire

I am writing to…

To start a conversation.

To be more vulnerable.

  • “Vulnerability is not weakness. I define vulnerability as emotional risk, exposure, uncertainty. It fuels our daily lives. Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change.” -Brene Brown

To try something that might not work.

  • “The secret is being willing to be wrong. The only thing that makes people and organizations great is their willingness to be not great along the way. The desire to fail on the way to reaching a bigger goal is the untold secret of success.” -Seth Godin

To see if ideas resonate. And if they do, to get feedback and connect with people.

To capture thoughts before they evaporate.

  • “Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them.” -David Allen

To better articulate thoughts and document them into something that makes sense.

To create a reference point to a more eloquent viewpoint while I’m on my journey to practicing what I preach.

To get away from small talk and create a medium to discuss ideas of substance.

  • “Encourage substantive debate by knowledgeable proponents of all points of view” -Carl Sagan

To take disparate areas of learning and merge them into something creative.

To maybe convert a cynic who’s read this far and had preconceived notions.

  • “First, you’re naive and you trust everyone. Then, someone cuts you off at the knees. So, you get traumatized by betrayal. Then, you become cynical. And, you think, “I’m a lot smarter now that I’m cynical.” And, you are because cynicism is actually a move up on naive. But, it’s not the last move. The last move is to transcend cynicism and to say, “even though I know there are just as many snakes in your heart as there are in my heart, I’m going to hold out my hand in trust”, because that’s the best way to elevate both of us.” -Jordan Peterson

And to find out…

“If the ideas are great, they’ll spread.” -Seth Godin
